Rambling Through Everyday Life Podcast

Jan 24, 2023

On this week's episode, Mallory Lamm, LCSW is back to talk about disordered eating, body image, and our relationship with food. Did you know eating disorders have become the second deadliest mental illness? 95% of women struggle with body image yet it's the least talked about thing in the church. It's time for us to talk about it!  Many of us have disordered thinking when it comes to diet and exercise because of the culture we live in. Mallory explains "intuitive eating," becoming "food neutral," and what to look for if you suspect a friend may have an eating disorder.  This is such an insightful and necessary conversation. If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. We are here for you and would love to help you take the next step toward healing. There is freedom waiting for you!

Some of our favorite takeaways:

"Shame does not produce behavior change. Shame drives us into very unhealthy behavior. As Jess Connoly says, "shame off you!"

"Our bodies are designed to evolve and change over time. Have you embraced your body as "good" regardless of what size you are? Your body is actually the least interesting thing about you".

"Eating disorders always thrive in secrecy and shame.  Asking questions brings it to light so healing can begin."
